Colwood's houses come from several eras. Near Colwood Corners and off Sooke Road there are post-war bungalows and split-levels, some still with a brick chimney and the original fireplace. On Triangle Mountain, homes step up the hillside with view decks and sloping drives. Down at Royal Bay and Latoria, the streets are newer and the lots tighter, with garages close to the curb.

Wood that arrives air-dried to under 20% moisture stays that way if it is off the ground and roofed over, with the ends open to the breeze. A pallet base and a sheet of roofing hold up far better than a tarp that blows loose in the first gale. Keep the stack a short step out from the house wall, too, so air can move behind it and damp doesn't collect against the siding.

How a Colwood Order Runs

Colwood is in our extended zone, so it goes on a scheduled West Shore run rather than a same-day trip. The delivery fee is higher than on the Peninsula because of the drive, and you hear the amount before you book. The wood is $475 per cord, or $1200 for 2.5 cords, plus that fee: Douglas fir, western hemlock, alder and some maple, split and dumped where the truck can tip safely.
